I was nearly 3 and she had bought me a Little Tykes Kitchen Center that I had been obsessed with every time we went shopping at Bradlees. It was the best Christmas gift ever!
I’m lucky to have a few memories of time enjoyed with my mum before my siblings were born…trips to the park and being pushed on the swings by one of mum’s friends (the woman didn’t want my mum to accidentally get hit in her belly) and trips to the town pool where I would play with the water spigot despite being repeatedly told not to!
The arrival of my brother was difficult for me b/c I went from being an only child with a mom and dad to losing my dad and having to share my mom. My mum and her husband (not my biological father, but more of a father to me than he ever was) got divorced right around the time my brother was born so I connected the two events in my mind.
When my brother was first brought home, I asked my mum if we could throw him in the trash! We fought like cats and dogs growing up, but he is now one of my best friends along with our two younger sisters.
I’m blessed to have a wonderful family.
